Mystery solved: a tree fell in the forest yesterday, and it made no sound. No sound at all.

Of course I was in a car

going 70 mph (the speed limit)

with the windows up

and the air conditioner on

but not the radio -

and we weren’t talking

because I was tired from not sleeping for 2 days

and he’d wanted me to stay home and rest

so he was pouty

and I was meeky

but still . . .

I saw the tree fall

without provocation

(he did, too)

and there was no sound,

no sound at all.
